Overview

Langtang is the nearest true high-mountain valley to Kathmandu, reached by road rather than by air. The trail climbs through forest into open yak pasture below Langtang Lirung, ending at Kyanjin Gompa with an optional dawn climb of Tserko Ri at 4,984m. The valley was devastated by the 2015 earthquake and has been rebuilt by its own community - trekking here directly supports that recovery.
